FAQ
Clear, friendly answers about therapy, assessments, policies, and getting started.
How long are therapy sessions?
Standard sessions are 53 minutes. Extended sessions are available upon request.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes. I am currently in-network with:
- Optum / United Healthcare
- Regence Blue Cross Blue Shield
- SelectHealth
- TriWest
- Cigna
If your plan is managed by one of these carriers, your sessions may be partially or fully covered depending on your benefits.
If you have a different insurance provider, you are welcome to use out-of-network benefits. I can provide a superbill that you can submit for possible reimbursement.
If you’re unsure whether your sessions would be covered, you can call your insurance company and ask about your mental health benefits and deductible. I’m happy to help guide you through the process if it feels confusing or overwhelming.
Do you offer online therapy?
Yes. I offer secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth for clients in Utah.
Some clients choose a mix of in-person and online sessions.
How do I schedule an appointment?
You can request a consultation directly through the website. I’ll follow up with a brief message to find a good time and answer any questions before we begin.
How does billing work?
We ask that you keep a credit card on file. After each session, we submit billing (including insurance claims, when applicable) and charge any client responsibility (such as a copay, coinsurance, or self-pay rate).
How long does therapy usually take?
It depends on your goals.
Some people come in for a few sessions to get support through a specific situation. Others stay longer to work through patterns that developed over years.
We will talk together about what feels right for you — I don’t rush the process, and I don’t keep people longer than needed. You always set the pace.
What ages do you work with?
I typically work with adults and older teens (typically 15+).
If you’re unsure whether your teen would be a good fit, feel free to reach out for a brief consultation. We can discuss your specific needs and I can help direct you to the best available services.
What are your fees?
My self-pay rates are:
- $150 for the initial intake session
- $125 for each individual therapy session (53 minutes of direct time)
If you’re using insurance, your out-of-pocket costs (such as a copay, coinsurance, or deductible) depend on your plan’s benefits. I verify benefits before your first session so you know what to expect.
Psychological assessment rates vary depending on the referral question and scope of testing. Before we begin, I’ll review the recommended testing, estimated hours, and the total cost with you.
What does psychological assessment involve?
Assessment is a structured, collaborative process where we clarify strengths, challenges, and next steps. It typically includes:
- A detailed interview
- Standardized testing (tailored to your needs)
- Questionnaires
- A clear, practical report
- A feedback session where we review results together
My aim is to give you clarity, not a stack of scores.
What if I've never been to therapy before?
Many of my clients are new to therapy. It’s normal to feel uncertain or nervous.
My approach is warm, steady, and collaborative — you don’t need to know where to start. You just need to show up as you are.
What issues do you specialize in?
I work with adults and older teens navigating:
- stress
- self-doubt
- anxiety
- depression
- ADHD
- identity concerns
- relationship challenges
- academic or career pressure
- the strain of trying to hold everything together.
I also specialize in psychological assessment for:
- ADHD
- Autism
- learning concerns
- diagnostic clarification
- general functioning.
If you're unsure whether I can help with your specific concerns, feel free to reach out — I’m always happy to guide you toward the right next step.
What should I expect in my first therapy session?
Your first session is a chance for us to slow down, get to know each other, and understand what brings you in. I’ll ask about what life has been like lately, what you’re hoping for, and what feels most important to you right now.
You don’t need to prepare anything or know exactly what you want to say — we figure things out together. Most people leave the first session feeling relieved, more grounded, and clearer about the next steps.
