FAQ
Clear, friendly answers about therapy, assessments, policies, and getting started.
How long are therapy sessions?
Standard sessions are 53 minutes. Extended sessions are available upon request.
How long does therapy usually take?
It depends on your goals.
Some people come in for a few sessions to get support through a specific situation. Others stay longer to work through patterns that developed over years.
We will talk together about what feels right for you — I don’t rush the process, and I don’t keep people longer than needed. You always set the pace.
What are your fees?
My self-pay rates are:
- $150 for the initial intake session
- $125 for each individual therapy session (53 minutes of direct time)
If you’re using insurance, your out-of-pocket costs (such as a copay, coinsurance, or deductible) depend on your plan’s benefits. I verify benefits before your first session so you know what to expect.
Psychological assessment rates vary depending on the referral question and scope of testing. Before we begin, I’ll review the recommended testing, estimated hours, and the total cost with you.
What does psychological assessment involve?
Assessment is a structured, collaborative process where we clarify strengths, challenges, and next steps. It typically includes:
- A detailed interview
- Standardized testing (tailored to your needs)
- Questionnaires
- A clear, practical report
- A feedback session where we review results together
My aim is to give you clarity, not a stack of scores.
What if I've never been to therapy before?
Many of my clients are new to therapy. It’s normal to feel uncertain or nervous.
My approach is warm, steady, and collaborative — you don’t need to know where to start. You just need to show up as you are.
What should I expect in my first therapy session?
Your first session is a chance for us to slow down, get to know each other, and understand what brings you in. I’ll ask about what life has been like lately, what you’re hoping for, and what feels most important to you right now.
You don’t need to prepare anything or know exactly what you want to say — we figure things out together. Most people leave the first session feeling relieved, more grounded, and clearer about the next steps.
